Resurgence Slow Sunday 25 January

If you still have the freedom this weekend, Sunday happens to be Resurgence Slow Sunday
with the theme

New Year’s Resolutions to serve the planet

Slow Sunday takes its inspiration from the Slow Food movement, which started in Italy in 1986 as a reaction against fast food. The core idea is for a group of friends to come together for the day to prepare natural ingredients unhurriedly by hand, with care and love whilst enjoying the company, into a feast to be enjoyed over several hours with the emphasis on truly appreciating the food and the friendship. Its the most wonderful antidote to life as a consumer.

Here's what Resurgence says:

'The Resurgence Trust takes its inspiration from two of the most profound philosophies of our time – E.F. Schumacher’s ‘Small is beautiful’ and Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’.

'We believe that big change is possible through small, meaningful actions at a local level. It is only by changing our immediate environment that we can pave the way for change on a larger scale. In other words, we can make the world a better place, but it will only happen when large numbers of people join together and practice what they believe in.

'The more people who join in and embrace the ethos of Slow Sunday, the greater the impact, so invite your friends, neighbours and local community to take part in a Slow Sunday celebration.

With apologies for short notice. Food for the future, at least!

Anyone for dinner?
